Magtection participated in the National Science Foundation’s prestigious I-Corps Teams program, receiving a $50,000 grant to engage in extensive customer discovery and business model design processes. The program supports researchers interested in entrepreneurial education and mentoring, and aims to reduce the time it takes to bring technologies from the laboratory to the marketplace.
To be eligible for the National I-Corp program, companies must have either received a prior NSF research award or previously participated in the NSF’s regionally focused I-Corp program.
Magtection’s participation was made possible through a nomination from MIN-Corps, a collaborative initiative between the University of Minnesota’s College of Science and Engineering’s Technological Leadership Institute, Carlson School of Management Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship and Research and Innovation Office’s Technology Commercialization Team. Since 2014, MIN-Corps has nominated 35 startups for the program.
The opportunity marked a significant step for Magtection at it worked to translate its groundbreaking research into impactful solutions for the market.
